Citing Sources

Citation is the process of explaining to the reader where they can find the information used in your paper. You must always give credit to the original writers and researchers whose work has been studied. To borrow ideas, phrases, or other material without giving the source is plagiarism. To avoid plagiarizing, you must document your sources properly. In ADJ this requires in-text citations in APA format. This includes citing author and date for summaries (Wilson, 2006) and author, date and page numbers for paraphrases and direct quotes (Johnson, 2009: 45). When in doubt, document!
