Each group [consisting of 3, sometimes 4, students] will be required to lead a class discussion on a given topic in hip-hop. Topics will be loosely related to the class readings for that session, but students are strongly advised to look for materials outside of the classes' reading list.

The group will be responsible for handing out any reading material one week prior to their presentation as well as consulting with me on the lyrics they wish to use for DTN. Outside of presenting an educated and professional [i.e. no reading from note cards or loose leaf] presentation which includes a definitive conclusion [meaning, you cannot conclude with: "Activism in hip-hop is important, but it is OK if artists do not actively participate]. The total length of the discussion will be no more than 20 minutes. Unless otherwise noted, class will begin with the group presentation and students should be ready to brief a 7.20, even if I am not in the classroom.

Finally, each group must provide, electronically, a list of 10 references, via an annotated bibliogrpahy, related to their topic, in MLA format.
