There is no shortage of material on British politics on the Internet, and most resources have good cross-references to each other, so there is no need to present a lot of them here. So, here are a few very good ones to start with.
The Open Government project is an effort by the British government to provide information on ministries and other bodies via the Internet.
The Independent is probably the best daily newspaper, but as of this writing does not yet have an archive of past issues. For that, your best bet is still the The Times which is no longer Britain's best daily newspaper, but does have the best archive.
The BBC now has an outstanding site which includes some of its broadcasts on the Internet--but not either the Archers or Test Match Special. Not only does it present first-rate news for the British public, but its World Service does the same for the rest of the world in a multitude of languages as well.
British political parties all have home pages. You can get a good idea of just how different they are by spending a few minutes looking at each of them.
So, too, do many interest groups, the most useful of which is Charter 88 which lobbies for constitutional reform and has links to other related sites in Britain and beyond
There are also a number of websites about Britain's most tragic political problem--the "troubles" in Northern Ireland.
Political groups in Northern Ireland have home pages, including Sinn Fein.
