I have asked you to buy the following two books:
Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart
Charles Hauss, Comparative Politics, 2nd ed.
My book is a standard textbook. Because I wrote it and it summarizes my "take" on the material, we will be able to spend less time in conventional lecture and more time discussing what is in it.
You must buy a new copy of the book that comes with the Infotrac software. Infotrac is a data base my publisher maintains that includes hundreds of thousands of articles which you can draw on to supplement the text and, with the internet as a whole, bring its analyses up to date. You are paying more than you would for a used copy of my book, but because we have Infotrac, I do not need to assign other books. In short, you are paying just about what you would be if you could buy my book used and another reader.
