Politics in the United States

There are hundreds of high-quality World-Wide Web sites for information on politics in the United States. Like the chapter on the United States in Comparative Politics, this page is not designed to dot all the i's and cross all the t's. The sites listed here, however, are useful because they bring together dozens of useful sites in one place.

The White House and the Library of Congress' Thomas project have outstanding "portals" to the government itself.

The major political parties and interest groups have web sites as well.

Democrats

Republicans

There are other sites that cover large parts of American political life, such as:

Policy.com for public policy

Polling Report for public opinion

Vote Smart for holding elected officials accountable
