- Dr. Karen Hallows is an
Assistant Professor of finance in the School of Management at George Mason University. She
has also taught at American University, Averett College, George Washington University, the
Florida Institute of Technology, the University of Missouri, and the University of
Nebraska.
Her other experience includes being a policy analyst for the National
Commission on Childhood Disability (1995), a legislative assistant/staff economist for
Congressman Jim Slattery (1993-1994), President of the Missouri Council on Economic
Education (1990-1993), a non-profit educational organization, and Director of the Center
for Economic Education at the University of Missouri (1987-1993). She was an assistant
professor of economics at the University of Missouri from 1987-1993.
Professor Hallows is a content provider for PHLIP in finance and
international finance. She is also the academic coordinator of the Business Journalism
Program, which is held for business reporters and editors at the University of Kansas each
summer. She has written and published several articles and book chapters dealing with
economic eduction and the financing of education.
Professor Hallows holds a Ph.D. in economics and finance from the
University of Nebraska and a Master's Degree in economics from Purdue University.
