5.2 Develop appropriate intervention(s) related to school culture as it contributes to the puzzling situation.

In addition to reading the general suggestions about interventions presented on the CIP Step 5 page, consider the suggestions below if you found school culture(s) to be influencing your puzzlement.

As part of your planning for action, think carefully about the level at which an intervention is needed and about the scope of involvement needed. Mills (2003, pp. 123-128) discussed individual, team and schoolwide levels of planning for interventions. Stringer (2004) took the focus wider and looked at linking school, families and community. Regarding the scope of involvement, consider what you can do as an individual, how you might involve a team, whether something needs to be done schoolwide, or whether school-community linkages are needed. Even if you decide that (ultimately) action needs to be taken schoolwide or by the school in conjunction with the community, you may be able to begin that process by taking a first step individually or as a member of a team.
