Acknowledgments

I want to acknowledge the helpful comments and suggestions offered by various colleagues during the initial development of the CIP Web site. Brenda Bannan-Ritland, Jerry Drake, Priscilla Norton, and Debra Sprague deserve special mention.

I also want to acknowledge the support provided by the Dean's office in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University, GMU's Instructional Resource Center, and Mike Behrmann who enabled Cheryl Beyer's contribution to the project.

In addition, I wish to thank the Elementary School Journal and the Middle School Journal for permission to include previously published articles about the CIP in the CIP Web site. Joe Ball at the National Middle School Association was very helpful in getting us an electronic version of the article from the Middle School Journal.

During 2003-2004 I expanded and updated the content of the CIP Guidebook on the CIP Web site. Some of the ideas developed in that revision had their origins in my experiences co-teaching with Mittie Quinn. In addition, helpful comments and sugestions were received from Margaret Eisenhart, Norma González, and Mittie Quinn, all of whom graciously served as peer reviewers for the revision. The Guidebook is definitely stronger because of their carefull reading of it and their thoughtful suggestions for improvement.
