People Involved in the Cultural Inquiry ProcessEvelyn Jacob originally developed the Cultural Inquiry Process (CIP) to use in EDUC 606: Education and Culture (see Jacob, 1995). She is responsible for its presentation in the CIP Guidebook on this site. To contact her, send e-mail to ejacob@gmu.edu. Various educators have contributed to the development and refinement of the CIP over time through their use of it and subsequent feedback. For two years Evelyn Jacob worked with educators at Rocky Run Middle School in Fairfax, VA, to use the CIP as part of their practice (see Jacob, Johnson, Finley, Gurski & Lavine, 1996). Other educators have used the CIP as part of the Education and Culture course. Mittie Quinn, a school psychologist, was instrumental in extending the CIP to special education. She also contributed by co-authoring an article (Quinn & Jacob, 1999) and collaborating in teaching the course. People Involved in the Cultural Inquiry Process Web Site The development of the CIP Web site has been a team effort, spanning 1999-2004. Evelyn Jacob and Kevin Ruess collaboratively designed this Web site, which Kevin Ruess originally built. To contact him, send email to kruess@cox.net. Cheryl Beyer designed the CIP logo. As part of the 2004 revision of the CIP Web site, Mittie Quinn contributed the page, "Using the CIP as a Tool in the Special Education Prereferral Process." Several GMU graduate assistants have worked on the site since its initial development. In addition to routine maintenance and the addition of new CIP Studies, each has made some new contribution to the site. Patrick Shane Gallagher converted the site from frames to non-frames; he also added the search feature and new navigation buttons. Kristin Percy Calaff created summaries of CIP Studies and linked the Success Stories and CIP Studies to relevant CIP Steps. She also expanded the Resources section by developing guidelines for evaluating Web sites and by identifying and adding links related to student characteristics. Finally, Kristin designed and developed the content for the Tutorial on Using Resources in the Cultural Inquiry Process. Dianne Battle added new CIP Studies and further expanded the Resources section, primarily by identifying and adding links related to culture and subject areas. She converted "CIP Cases" to "CIP Studies" throughout the site. Dianne designed and developed the diagrams and guides in the Course Instructional Resources section of the Web site. She also developed "Instructions for Maintaining the CIP Web site" (Adobe Reader required). Dianne did the technical development for the Tutorial on Using Resources in the CIP. She implemented the 2004 revisions to the CIP Web site including those in the Guidebook. She also increased the CIP Web site's accessibility in compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and U.S. Section 508 Guidelines. If you find errors or broken links on this Web site, please send that information to Evelyn Jacob at ejacob@gmu.edu.
