Immediately below are culture and arts resources for general instructional purposes followed by culture and arts links for specific grade levels. This collection includes resouces for dance, drama, music, and verbal and visual arts.  When you click on a resource link, a new browser window will open on top of this CIP Web site window.

A collection of lesson and curriculum plans for art education, as well as image galleries, a search engine, and discussion threads on issues related to art education. ARTSLYNX, International Art Resources
This megasite contains multinational links to Websites on the dance, theater, music and visual arts cultures of many countries. It also features teaching resources, including journal articles on application of instructional theory, examples of program implementation, and the arts and special populations. The Educator's Reference Desk
"The Educator's Reference Desk provides a search interface to the ERIC [Educational Resources Information Center] Database, providing access to over one million bibliographic records on educational research, theory, and practice." The AskERIC service and website were discontinued 12/19/03. Search the new database for gender, equity and ethnicity related arts lessons within a selected grade level. (reviewed 1/2/04)

Critical Links: Learning in the Arts and Student Social and Academic Development
A compendium of research studies and summaries of research that, "explores… the interrelationships … in arts learning and in other academic, personal, and social contexts and situations." The 2002 publication was sponsored by the Arts Education Partnership and features studies and essays on dance, drama, multi-arts, music and visual arts education at all grade levels. This article by Elsa L. Stazner and Leah D. Miller appeared in Volume 1, Number 3 of the

It describes a year-long program using poetry-writing to enhance Latino children's mastery of English, and to enable graduate students, working as teachers to these children, to connect more fully with the children's experiences as immigrants. Eastern College Summer Theatre Camp: Collaborative Arts Education in Action
This article by Mark Hallen appeared in Volume 2, Number 2 of the
Electronic Magazine of Multicultural Education. It describes the Eastern College Summer Theater Camp, a month-long day camp program for middle school children. Under the supervision of artist-teachers, children create projects, stories and characters that form the basis of an original play that children perform for friends, families and sponsors.
