Course Prerequisites

OR 541 (or a knowledge of basic linear programming: simplex algorithm, duality, etc.)

Software

GIDEN by J. H. Owen, C. R. Coullard, and D. S. Dilworth. The software requires Windows XP or Windows 2000 SP3. You also must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on your PC.

Step 1: Click here and then click on "Download J2SE JRE". Install JRE.

Step 2: Click here to download GIDEN. Open the folder and click on GIDEN.exe. This will extract the GIDEN software and related files to a folder that you specify. Then, click on GIDEN.exe to run the software. A users manual is provided as a .pdf file. To view the user manual, you need Acrobat Reader.

Grading

Grades will be based on approximately five homework sets and a take-home final exam. The final exam will count as two homeworks. All work is to be done independently.
