  Presentation Writing
New Century College students are required to create a number of presentations, either individually or part of a group. You will also be required, on occasion, to present your findings before a class or larger audience. 

You may be assigned a topic or asked to select one based on a particular theme. As with any academic project, you will have to do appropriate research, narrow down your theme, create clear and correct text, organize your material, and document all information from sources.  Here are some guidelines:

  • Plan carefully 
  • If a group project, assign tasks/responsibilities
  • Do your research
  • Narrow down your theme
  • Know your audience 
  • Create clear, well organized ideas and content
  • Compile a bibliography of sources
  • Create clear, appropriate visual aids
  • Practice your presentation 
  • Time your presentation
  • Create cue cards
  • Speak comfortably and clearly 
  • Maintain eye contact with your audience
You may be required to turn in a report on your presentation, with appropriate documentation and a reference page.  Here are resources to help create effective visual aids and work on group presentations:
