"Solar Radio Astronomy and the FASR Project"
TALK ABSTRACT: -------------- Research primarily with non-solar-dedicated radio telescopes over the last 20 years has led to detailed understanding of the diagnostic possibilities of radio observations of the Sun. This talk will review the current state of solar radio astronomy and describe FASR, the Frequency Agile Solar Radiotelescope project, which is designed to take advantage of these developments and produce a range of new diagnostics important for modern solar and space weather research topics including coronal magnetograms, spatial distributions of accelerated electrons and propagation of CMEs close to the Sun.
