NCLC 249 - Internet Literacy Group Presentation Requirements Requirements
for participation in leading class presentation:
Each week, three/four students (randomly selected) will lead class presentations based on the readings and theme for that week. The discussion/presentation should be limited to approx. 30 minutes. The group names and emails and dates to lead the discussion will be posted in Townhall. Presentations should reflect not only the group's ideas but also consider the responses posted to Townhall on the readings for the week. I am looking for well informed, imaginative presentations, where your own thinking/reading will complement the material from fellow writers and the textbooks. You are expected to do some additional research on at least two credible sources (from current publications, such as credible newspapers, computer magazines, Web sites, and present findings which should complement the topics related to the theme of the week you present. The Internet is ever evolving; that is why it is good to see what is happening in the current news. For example, if your group is researching and presenting for the week we study e-commerce, your group members might want to divide up your presentation material to cover on-line shopping hazards and precautions, the pros and cons of shopping online, and risks of being online entrepreneurs, etc. You might include taking the class on a virtual shopping trip - and discuss which "store" is easier to shop at and which might be more credible and have secure shopping safeguards built in. Each member of the group will be graded on the credibility and relevance of your research material, your readings and your ability to integrate this material with the topic of that class. Each of you will turn in a typed, printed copy which will include a short summary of your part of the presentation, outlining the major points, plus the documentation information for your source (in APA format). Include a print out of hard copy sources and the URLs/Web addresses of Web sources. The grading system will be: 5 points for your individual contribution (relevance, credibility of readings and your summary of the topic) 5 points for the group presentation (If the presentation, as whole, does not show collaborative effort, planning, and substance, the whole group's grade will suffer.
