NCLC 249 - Internet Literacy - Spring 2004
Guidelines for Revising Course Work

It is up to you whether you want to revise your work or not  You will not be able to revise your Experiential Learning Final Project, or your major report on an Internet topic.  That is why you are given the opportunity to workshop these projects in class and get feedback from class members.  I will point out the deadline for revisions for assignments for which I will accept revisions.

Check with me to see if I will accept a revision of the assignment you want to revise.

Revisions are not allowed for late work or work that does not show serious effort.

Here are the guidelines for revision:

  • You must turn in your work on time.
  • You must reread the assignment to be sure you understand what you need to do.
  • Visit other students' work on their Web sites to get an idea of  how they completed the assignment.  (Keep in mind, however, that they may also want to revise their work.)  Some may stand out as examples that can help you revision your product.  Keep in mind that your work should be original.  I take plagiarism very seriously.
  • Make an appointment with me if you still don't understand.
  • You must read my comments on your paper, and reVISION your work by stepping back and being willing to look at your work with a fresh eye.  Be willing to throw out something that is dear to you but just isn't working in this context.
  • The original product must show sufficient effort and not have numerous editing, spelling problems, which are required for submissions of college-level work.  If you did not make a serious effort when you created the first product, I don't feel obliged to look at a revision.
  • Do NOT delete the original version of the work about which I commented.  You need to see it to revision your product.  I need to see it to evaluate whether or not your revision warrants a higher grade (You will not get a lower grade if your revision is not as good as your original version.).
  • You must include a preface to your revision (create a link to a separate preface page, which is linked to your revision.).  Use the points below to guide you in the process of your revision and flesh out your responses to the points in your preface to your revision.  I will not look at your revision if there is no preface.
  • You must get your revision posted by the date agreed upon for the revision.
Key Points:
After revisioning  your product, include these key points and anything else you would like to add:
- State in your own words what you think is the major strength of the product.
- State in your own words what you think is the major problem with the product.
