Using File Transfer Programs to upload web pages
E-mail  |  Web pages
Netiquette  |  Privacy issues

There are a number of programs you can download (often free for faculty and students) which allow you to upload and download files to and from your web space on a server, such as mason.gmu.edu. The "secure shell" type of program provides better security.

A secure way to transfer files to your web site is to use a program called SSH Secure Shell. To download a FREE copy of Secure Shell, see Mason IT Support Center Downloads.

See instructions on how to use SSH Secure Shell.

This program also allows you to send files from your own computer to the server on which your Web material resides.  You can do this from any computer from which you have Internet access.

For a program to upload and download files using MACs, see Fetch.
