Publishing on the Web

E-mail  |  Web pages
Netiquette  |  Privacy issues

In New Century College you will be required to publish some of your course work on the Web. It is important for you to understand how digital information is created and to get an opportunity to compose and publish texts in this medium.

You are also provided with personal Web space. Please review the George Mason University policies on appropriate use of Web pages residing on university servers.

Guard your own privacy and respect the privacy of others. Keep in mind that what you publish on the Web can be read by anyone with Internet access.

What you publish and what you provide links to gives people an impression of who you are.  Being imprudent in your choices could negatively affect your reputation, be a cause for invasion of your privacy and influence your ability to get a job. For example, if a picture of a family member of friend is posted on a Web page, anyone could download that picture or post it on another Web site. Do you want strangers to have access to your phone number, your address, and other personal information?

Think before you publish. The resources below will help guide you when you publish your Web page.
