McGraw Hill Learning Architecture

Web-based learning that combines McGraw-Hill content with Top Class software from WBT Systems. They have developed on-line software that can help administer a course, encourage collaborative learning, and customize course content. It can help assign quizzes, post homework assignments, track students’ progress, and add own materials. Students need only a computer with a standard Web browser to navigate through dynamic pages of text, graphics, exercises, PowerPoint slides, and more. If they should have difficulty with a topic, they can use a built-in message system to e-mail the instructor or fellow students with questions. The claim is that this product is a Web-based product that provides classroom management, collaborative learning, and content management all in one place.

"TopClass" - a web-based training management solution can deliver complete online courses with automated testing and collaboration tools to thousands of users. TopClass leverages instructor-led training by providing a structured learning environment in which students are assigned to classes led by experts. TopClass can deliver entirely web-based course delivery, or be used to assist live classes. Any web-based content can be included in courses and be delivered over the internet or corporate LAN.

WebCT is a tool that facilitates the creation of Web-based educational environments by non-technical users. It can be used to create entire on-line courses, or to simply publish materials that supplement existing courses.

Web-Based Training Information Center: WBT, Online Learning, Distance Education

WBTIC is a non-profit resource for developing and delivering web-based training, online learning, or distance education. Includes: WBT primer, surveys, discussion forums, and resource links. WBTIC is the creation of Tim Kilby, who envisioned distributed training applications when the Web was in its infancy. Mr. Kilby coined the terms Web-based training and WBT (1994) and Web-based performance support system, or WBPSS, to describe two practical applications of Web technologies to solve human performance problems. Tim's professional experience includes computer systems analysis, user interface design, media production, instructional systems design, and classroom instruction.
