Chemistry 350

Here is an overview of the course.

Prerequisite

Chemistry 313 (Organic Chemistry I). Chemistry 314 is a co- or prerequisite.

Course Goals

As a chemistry major, it is necessary and desirable for you to be familiar with both fundamental chemical knowledge and with computer applications used by chemists. In this course you will learn chemistry not taught in the traditional lab or lecture and you will be prepared to undertake advanced computing projects in your upper level courses.

Course Requirements

The grade in this course is based on homework assignments, quizzes and a final exam. Homework ~40%, Quizzes ~60%.

Assignments are graded for completeness, timeliness, and correct chemistry. Depending on the nature of the assignment, it will be submitted on-line, as hard-copy or as a combination.

Course Policies

Much of the important work and learning in this course takes place during class, as in a laboratory. There is no textbook for the course. Attendance is therefore mandatory and absence without adequate, written, excuse will be penalized.

There are regular assignments to make sure that you have learned a topic so that we can proceed to the next one. It is essential that you complete the assignments on time and that they are done correctly. Late submissions will be marked down.

Please see the document distributed in class for more detailed information.
