Composer Tutorial – Creating Tables


To Create a Table for Data

    1. Click Table Icon on Toolbar (or go to insert, and then table)

    2. Select New Table Properties (if necessary)

    3. Enter Data

    • 6 rows, 3 columns
    • border 1
    • spacing 1
    • padding 4
    • width 1%
    • height 1%
    • **take equal off of cells for the cells to expand and contract with the text**

    4. Click OK, and then enter desired text.

    (This table is set up, for example, to have 5 rows for the days of the week down the left and two rows on the top for office hours and class hours--top left cell is open. Adjust number of rows and columns for your specific information.)

    5. To edit a table once it is created, right click on the table and then select properties


To Create a Table for Basic Layout

    1. Click Table Icon on Toolbar (or go to insert, and then table)

    2. Select New Table Properties (if necessary)

    3. Enter Data

    • 1 row, 2 columns
    • border 0
    • spacing 5
    • padding 5
    • width 600 pixels
    • height 1
    • take equal off of cells

    4. Click OK

    5. Right click on the left cell and then select properties

    6. Select Cell tab and enter data

    • cell width 180 pixels
    • to select color, click on the box to the right, select grey
    • click OK

    7. Right click on the right cell and then select properties

    8. Select Cell tab and enter data

    • cell width 420 pixels
    • click OK

    (This table is set up to have a column down the left side that has a colored background that can be used for links and a column (or cell) to the right for the main text--such as this tutorial page.)
