Multi-Genre Research Proposal
 
   
The Proposal
The proposal is your sales pitch for your ideas. We are your audience. You need to convince us through your evocation of the creativity, dynamism and intellectual value of your project that your research project is both credible and feasible.

Keep in mind you are selling to us:

  • the originality of your research project
  • the importance of your research project: i.e. answer the skeptic's question, "So What?" about your subject and the angle you are taking on it
  • the quality of your completed and projected research
  • the intellectual and design methodology (ies) you choose: i.e. how will you execute your project compellingly for your audience
  • your capability to execute the project successfully
 
   
The proposal document should be short, punchy, and immediately intriguing to your particular audience. You should grab (and hold) your audience's attention with your first screen.  
   

The Form
We should like you to present your proposal as a multi-genre hypertext (such as that produced by Joyce Walker). You should include at least four genres (possible choices below):

  • personal reflection
  • traditional proposal writing
  • narrative
  • images
  • quotations from research sources
  • ’creative’ genres – poetry, stage or film dialogue, short story
  • autobiography/memoir
  • analysis
  • etc. (but don't stop thinking of genres just because our imaginations ran out here)
 
   

Your proposal must:

  • sell your research project to us as convincingly as possible
  • integrate your chosen genres into a lucid narrative
  • require no more than ten minutes to navigate and read
  • be published on your web site
