Teaching
My parents are/were both teachers w/ decorates.
My sister is teacher.
I went into the Navy and learned the value of teachers (and true leaders).
If my students grades are a bell curve I am not doing something right.
I should spend more time with the students who are not doing as well.
If I do it right the curve should be skewed to the right.
Students may still fail, but I will do my best to help those who want my help.
I am not here just to teach the course material.
I am here to teach students about life.
I firmly believe that we learn from our own mistakes, but to be wise is to learn from the mistakes of others.
That is why we teach.
The goal of higher education is primarily to teach student to think critically.
Life
There is no destiny. Destiny implies that no matter what I do, I will end up in the same place. I this is so, what’s the point of the journey.
We need to earn everything get in order to appreciate it.
Self-esteem is earned not bestowed. It is earned by completing difficult tasks not by accolades.
The most important thing in life is how you interact with the people you meet in life especially family. You work to live not live to work – never sacrifice your family to your job. No one on his deathbed ever bemoaned the time he didn’t spent at work.
Learn to recognize true love and embrace it with your whole heart when you find it. In Love you will surely regret the things you didn’t do.
Save for your retirement so that you are not a burden to your children, but not so much that you do not live when you are young. Start saving now, not later; this is about the only case when time can be on you side.
Stress is internal; we do it to ourselves. No one does it to us. Any task will get done more quickly, accurately, with less conflict with out stress. This does no mean that a bit of urgency or adrenalin isn’t a good thing now and then, but don’t get overwhelmed by worry.
What has happened is the past is over; deal with the present and prepare for the future.
